About

raya
pronounced: RAY-uh

Welcome to my blog!

I’m originally from Houston, Texas born as an only child to divorced parents. To the outside looking in, it looks like I’m a social butterfly and have the world at my fingertips. But to me, I’ve always felt like a loner and outcast. I set out on a journey to find my missing piece and it led to the beautiful place of Los Angeles, California. I am pursing acting as my ultimate career and blogging my life experiences in between. I have never been happier and more complete!

I get asked on a regular basis how my name is pronounced, what’s the meaning behind it, and how did my parents come up with it. I have never gotten a clear answer from my parents on how my identity came about, so I’ve made up my own story.

Rhea (Greek pronunciation: [r̥é.a͜a]): Mother of Greek Gods. She gave birth to Zeus who’s roman name is Jupiter. I was born December 2, 1992 which makes me a true blue sagittarius and  my ruling planet is Jupiter. It is the 9th largest moon in our solar system and in Hebrew Raya means friend. And I couldn’t be more friendly!

So, thank you to Eric & Diane who have the most American names on the planet for stepping outside of the box and making me feel original. I’m the only one in America with my first and last name, but who’s keepin tabs?!

I live my life as an open book and I don’t plan to leave anything out! Follow along with me on my journey of self discovery, relationships, struggles, happiness, beauty, and life through the eyes of a twenty-something. Here I will share my thoughts, inspirations and motivation. So buckle up, sit back, and let’s create some unforgettable memories for the chapters to come.
