Independence Day Festivities

If you’re anything like me and wait until the last minute to plan anything for the holidays, this post is for you!

Unfortunately fireworks are illegal in LA County but, don’t fret! You can still watch from afar. Leave it up to the pyro-pros to put on a spectacular show!

1. DTLA

Take the subway downtown to Grand Park for a free 4th of July block party! If you’re against the $1.75 subway ride, good luck finding parking and paying surge prices for Uber. From the valley you can take the redline directly to the event.

2. Queen Mary

Nothing intrigues me more than the word Queen and a boat. You can watch fireworks from the Queen Mary for just $44! Talk about romantic. It’s great for the whole family! Kids under 3 get in free and with games, live entertainment and a firework show to top it off- what could be a better Independence Day than that?!

3. Griffith Park

Hike to the top of the Griffith Observatory right before sunset. You can kill two birds with one stone! Get a little work out in and then sit back, relax, and watch the sky light up. I’d suggest bringing a picnic basket and some wine (don’t forget blankets!) and cuddle up next to your current boo-thang or your best girlfriends!

Honestly, the 4th of July and NYE are my least favorite holidays. I’m not a fan of loud noises or setting fireworks off myself. So, I’m glad they’re outlawed in LA! Just because I’m not a fan though, doesn’t mean I don’t take full advantage of everything the day has to offer. Any excuse to host friends and family is a good enough excuse for me! I love cooking out with my friends and having themed parties. Everything needs to be on brand from decor down to the food.
